The Jeffery Lipscomb SR (JLSR) Scholarship
The JLSR foundation was founded in 2017 by the family of Jeffery Lipscomb Sr. The foundation seeks to identify and award a book scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to an outstanding high school senior who aspires to continue their education at an accredited college/university. The applicant must be one who has experienced the death of a loved one rather a parent or a significant other. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit leadership potential, and demonstrate active participation within the local community.
The purpose of the scholarship is to facilitate and encourage students that have lost a loved one to further their education by assisting them with meeting the challenges and financial burdens of entering into college.
Criteria:
1. Graduating High School Senior in the year of the award.
2. Provide proof of acceptance/registration to an accredited college/ university.
3. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.9 GPA. Please provide a transcript.
4. Provide one faculty recommendation that highlights the applicant’s interpersonal excellence in working with students, faculty, administrators, or in the community.
5. Write a 500-700 word essay on how the death of a parent or significant loved one impacted your life and how you were able to overcome this obstacle and move in a positive matter.
Scholarship Grant Application Process and Notification:

2. The selection of the recipient(s) shall be determined by the recommendation of the scholarship committee.
3. Upon selection, the scholarship recipient will be notified in writing by mail.
